Christendom
Christendom means Christian world. Christendom did not originate in Europe, but in southwest Asia. It spread eastward and westward of the mediterraean, in the Arabian Peninsula. Due to a monotheist religion, in the middle east, Christianity was at its decline beginning the middle ages, and the few communities that survived such as the Nestorian Christian in Syria, Jerusalem, and Persia as long as they did not preach to Muslims. In the Chinese culture Christianity survived between the 600 and 800’s because Budists and Muslims rituals were incorporated into the Christian religion but was not very popular. However, Budism and Islam was not as popular amongst the Mongols were as they were not very tolerant of religion because they were not allowed to eat meat and drink alcohol, so Christianity became highly accepted because Jesus strong shama. In Africa, Christianity also declined during the post classical era. However, in Egipt they developed their own interpretation of the Christian faith under the Copitc Church, and were tolerated by Arab rulers until the mid 14th century. In the South, Nubian Christianity survived for over 600 years, kings also served as priests, but by 1500 pressure from Egypt, Islamic conversation and Araba migration caused Christianity to die down (p. 414) . However in the highlands of Ethiopia up to this day, 60% of its population continues to profess the Christian faith. This was due to its isolation and protection by its mountainous geography and its distance from major centers of the Islamic power (p.415). The majority of Christianity takes place in Europe through the Byzantine empire. Overall, Europe Christianity was split into East and West and competed against each other. Christianity in the west started slowly, and not only excelled but expanded outward and became quite successful in a short time; yet the Byzantian started strong as a continuation of the Roman empire, but it fell at the end of the period and passed its torch to Russia.
