Module 8 - 4th of July

4th of July

My husband’s birthday is July the 2nd, and every year on his birthday, he reminds everyone in our family that Independence Day should actually be the 2nd of July not the 4th.  In this day and age of fact checking, I finally confirmed that he was correct that the Continental Congress actually voted for independence on the 2nd, and even John Adams said that July 2nd would be remembered in the annals of American history [1]. Unfortunately it was dated on the 4th and that was the date that lives on in the annals. My husband always consoles himself with the fact that on his actual birthday of July 2nd, 1964, the Civil Rights Act was signed into law.
